As we arrive at Palm Sunday this year, we all are capable of appreciating anew the reality of the Passion of Christ. The places and way we must walk, the places we cannot walk just now the outreach of which we are capable, and the limits imposed on human contact by the public health challenges we face. We are strengthened, not weakened by our contemplation of how Christ viewed the world and the people around him through the trickle of blood from the crown of thorns to his eyes. We are strengthened, not weakened by our contemplation of the unsteadiness and pain in his limbs and feet with each step he takes under the burden of lashes he received and the rough burden of the cross he carries.
While our preparations for Palm Sunday and Holy Week are underway, I encourage all who can to access the great liturgies of this week via the internet or those broadcast on television. Palms will be available in our church after 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 4th and the morning of Sunday, April 5th. They also will be available in the vestibule of the church through Holy Week (or until they run out!)

The Seven Last Words VI. “It is finished.” John 19:30 VII. “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” Luke 23:46
Merciful friend and savior of the human race, as the darkness closed in on you, you gave a loud cry and died. In your ultimate commitment to the Father’s loving care, deliver us from despair, now and in the hour of our dying. Help us to live and even to die in full hope and confidence because of your body broken and your blood poured out for us.
Now and forever.
~Amen
