During the Season of Lent this year, you will see representations of the Seven Last Words of Christ from the Cross at the Stained Glass Windows around the church. At alternating windows there are reflective prayers for the Words at the preceding windows. You also should find a prayer booklet in each pew which presents the Words and associated prayers all in one place. I encourage you to find inspiration and hope in these, whether while in the church or later, during the week at home. Begun with Holy Water and Ashes, may this season be a time of grace leading to true freedom.

First Week of Lent:
“Father, forgive them for they do not know what they do.” Luke 23:34
Prayer
Merciful Savior and friend of the human race, in your compassion you forgave your mortal enemies who sentenced you and nailed you to the cross. By your gracious example, help us to forgive our enemies from the heart and make friends even with the sinful. Blest be your forgiving heart, now and forever. ~Amen.
The Seven Last Words will provide the basis for the evening of prayer and reflection each Wednesday evening of Lent, beginning at 7:00pm in the church.
