This weekend we celebrate the great Solemnity of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. We mark the summation and conclusion of the Liturgical Year. A new year of prayer, worship and service will begin with the First Sunday of Advent, December 3. We are grateful individually and as a community and as a nation for the new memories of family and friends created most recently on Thanksgiving. I thank the members of our Parish Family and other friends who took the time and expended their energy this past weekend to host the annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner. And I thank the people of our community who accepted our invitation to join us. With the Solemnity of Christ the King upon us, our thoughts are directed immediately to the ways in which this glorious mystery will unfold once again in the liturgical year to come, beginning next weekend with our celebration of the First Sunday of Advent. In the weeks of Advent, we will open our minds and hearts to the Spirit of God, that the truth of the Incarnation, the Wonder revealed in the Nativity might penetrate ever more deeply the fabric of our lives. Each week during Advent, there will be a special celebration of Word and Sacrament on Wednesday evening, 7 – 8:30 PM. This celebration will include Evening Prayer leading into the celebration of Mass. At the conclusion of Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration. During adoration, I will be available in the Reconciliation Room for anyone who wishes to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You are welcome to participate in any or all four of these elements of prayer and sacrament: Evening Prayer* 7:00 PM Mass 7:15 PM Exposition/Adoration 7:45 PM Opportunity for Reconciliation Benediction/Conclusion 8:00 PM *These evening celebrations will be our first occasion to use the new Liturgy of the Hours provided to our parish by a very generous benefactor who has chosen to remain anonymous. Thank you! Fr. Tom
