During the past several weeks, I have been in contact with some of the staff of Advinia Care Nursing Home (formerly Beaumont) in Northbridge. We are making preparations for a Mass for residents at the end of the month. Previous to these contacts, I had not been at the nursing home for several years following the death of my aunt, M. Jeanne Lavallee, in 2019. Jeanne was a resident at Beaumont for 5 years due to Parkinson’s Disease.
Walking through the doors of the nursing home brought back memories of other family members and friends who had been there in past years. Remembering back even further, I remember that in the past, St. Peter’s Parish had an important pastoral ministry at the nursing home, which lies within our parish boundaries. Many parishioners went there when they became elderly or
infirm and the parish was attentive to their needs by providing them with Mass, Communion visits, Anointing of The Sick and spiritual care for dying residents and their families.
Currently, our parish provides weekly Communion to Catholic residents of Advinia Care and will soon begin offering a Mass monthly, continuing a Mass schedule that Fr. Tom established during his time here. I hope to provide Anointing of The Sick to residents after the Mass and, later in the Summer, to give residents an opportunity for Confession. Importantly, I would like to remember the souls of deceased Beaumont and Advinia Care residents at Masses here at St. Peter’s. Through this, we continue our pastoral care of residents beyond this life into the next. Please join us in prayer also for current residents and staff of Advinia Care that the Lord may bless them with good health, joy and peace.
We always welcome your volunteer involvement in providing pastoral care to residents at the nursing home.
