“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased, listen to him.” Matthew 17:5
The Disciples hear these words come from the heavens during their experience of the Transfiguration, remembered and celebrated in today’s Gospels reading. We are called to listen first because of who Jesus is, and then for what he has to say. The Word made flesh is our motive for listening, and then what he says and does is our means to attain the grace of redemption for which He has come.

Second Week of Lent:
“Amen I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
Prayer
Merciful Savior and friend of the human race, you heard the repentant plea of the criminal on your right hand and promised him paradise for his faith. As we are dying in the midst of our sins, let us hear this same word from your lips in response to our prayer of faith and the life-giving power of your holy sacraments. Blest by your undying mercy, now and forever. ~Amen
The Seven Last Words will provide the basis for the evening of prayer and reflection each Wednesday evening of Lent, beginning at 7:00pm in the church.
