As we conclude the days of “Ordinary Time” that began immediately after the Christmas Season, we take a breath and orient ourselves to the great opportunities and challenges of the Season of Lent. This Wednesday we will celebrate the beginning of this unique season of grace with the blessing and imposition of ashes. The schedule of times for Mass and the imposition of ashes is:
8:00 AM Mass with Ashes, St. Peter’s Church
10:45 AM Milford Regional Medical Center Imposition of Ashes in conjunction with clergy & liturgical ministers of Sacred Heart Parish, Hopedale
1:30 PM Imposition of Ashes at Salmon Day Health, Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing, and Whitney Place, all on the Salmon Health Campus
7:00 PM Mass with Ashes, St. Peter’s Church
Begun well, the Season of Lent offers the Faith Community countless opportunities, those we might undertake individually and those we might share, to open wider our personal “gates” to the mystery of God’s love for us, of God’s grace offered to us. Looking ahead, I can offer for your consideration Wednesday evening celebrations of Word, Sacrament, and Prayer that will be held here at St. Peter’s. Utilizing the resources and format we first used this past Advent, beginning on Wednesday, February 21, each evening’s schedule will be:
7:00 PM Evening Prayer 7:15 PM Mass 7:45 – 8:30 PM Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Adoration, opportunity for Sacrament of Reconciliation
If you could benefit better from something more comprehensive during one specific week, the Parish Community of St. Patrick in Whitinsville also have extended an invitation to join them for a three-evening Lenten Retreat, February 26,27,28, with each evening beginning at 7:00 PM. See the poster in the entry to the church.
God’s grace to you!
