As I approach the keyboard today, I begin by looking back...this past weekend was a busy and fruitful one for us! On Saturday evening, Chef Peter led the efforts in the kitchen of the Parish Center and waitstaff across the age spectrum hosted many of us at table to a wonderful pork roast dinner! And all was done in support of the members of our parish who will venture out this summer on missions of Church ministry. Bouquets of gratitude to all who participated to make this evening both enjoyable and successful!
On Sunday, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, young people in our Edge and Lifeteen communities and their adult leaders held their annual Rockathon for Haiti. At each of my visits with them during the 12 hours of this event, those rocking chairs were moving! An afternoon and evening of “rocking” as well as sharing in activities relevant to this undertaking made for a truly memorable time. Thank you to all who participated actively and directly, and to all who offered your financial support for the sake of much-needed support to the people of Haiti.
Now I look ahead. Ash Wednesday (March 6) and the Weeks of Lent are barely a turn-of-the-calendar away! I would like to let all of you know now that there will be a special Lenten Program each Monday evening of Lent: Jesus’ Passion – Our Path to Healing. Each evening will be structured around the celebration of Evening Prayer, of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, or the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
