It is not often that the subject of my reflections in this space can be truly seen and touched, but it is the case today! These are two matters that not only impact our spiritual strength and pastoral action, but also are matters of solid, temporal reality. They are:
After doing repair work that was required, a generous parishioner has returned to use our
“St.
Vincent de Paul Box.” Previously located in the vestibule or gathering area of the church, the decision was made to install the repaired box within the body of the church, there perhaps to safeguard more effectively against vandalism or any attempt at theft. You will find it in its new location near the bottom of the stairs to the organ loft. The housing having been repaired, and the locking mechanism replaced, it is our sincere hope that this instrument of pastoral care in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul will continue to be vibrant and effective for years to come!
And, in the weeks to come, the “vent windows” at the bottom of each of the stained glass windows in the nave of the church will be removed for repair work to the housing and the mechanism by which each window can be positioned “open” during warmer weather. The work will be accomplished by Paulson Stained Glass of Upton, MA. Thirteen vent windows will be removed and repaired in groups, with proper, temporary enclosures provided in each window that is removed. The cost of this work will be $3,600. Thank you for your patience during this project!
